How to Cook Chicken Wings

  1. Chicken wings are among the best parts of the chicken, especially if these are cooked really well. These can be served as appetizers in restaurants, bars or even for just simple dinners at home. You can also serve them during parties as finger foods. There are a lot of ways on how you can prepare chicken wings and to make sure that you cook them properly, here are some tips for you.
  2. Thaw the Chicken Wings Completely

Before cooking the chicken wings, you have to make sure that these are completely thawed. There are two ways on how you can do this. You can let the wings sit inside the refrigerator for one to two days before you cook them. Or, you can rinse them with cold water and pat dry with paper towel afterwards. When these are completely thawed, cooking them will be much easier and you won't have to worry about having uncooked parts especially the center portion. You also need to wash them properly for health reasons. You surely wouldn't want to be having health problems because of uncooked or improperly cleaned chicken.
  3. Use the Dry Rub Method for more Flavor

If you have noticed, most cooks use the dry rub method when they cook wings using the grill. This is not just applicable for grilling however, for you can also use it when you are deep frying or pan frying the wings. Through dry rubbing, you can use your favorite herbs and spices to add more flavor to the chicken wings that you are about to cook. You have to see to it that you rub these seasonings well then add olive oil at the surface to make them stick to the chicken. The olive oil sort of seals in the seasonings that you have dry rubbed.
  4. How Long to Cook When Deep or Pan Frying

Deep and pan frying are two favorites when it comes to cooking wings. When deep frying, make sure that they are dry before placing them in the heated oil so that you can avoid the splatters. Lay them down on a single layer and wait for about 12 to 15 minutes. After that span of time, they will already be crispy, waiting to be served. On the other hand, when pan frying, it will only take about 6 to 7 minutes for the chicken wings to be cooked. For this method, you will need a large pan or if you have a wok, you can also use that. Make sure to cook the chicken wings thoroughly, with the meat tender and the outside crispy and with full flavor.
  5. Bake Chicken Wings for a Healthier Option

For those who prefer a healthier choice for cooking wings, baking is definitely recommended. The oil used for this method will be less, thereby lessening the fat content of the dish. Bake the chicken at around 400 degrees for about 30 to 40 minutes. To check if these are already cooked, check the inside part to see if the juices are clear and not pinkish anymore.
  6. Follow these tips when cooking chicken wings and surely, you will be able to prepare them perfectly. Whether you are an expert cook or not, the chicken wings you have prepared will be just as good as what the experts make.
